Washington (USA), Mar 1 (LaPresse/AP) – The Pentagon is sending some 3,000 soldiers to the US-Mexico border as part of US President Donald Trump's programme to curb illegal immigration. The Pentagon says Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth has ordered a Stryker Brigade combat team and a general support aviation battalion to be deployed for the mission. The forces will arrive along the nearly 2,000-mile border in the coming weeks. The Defence Department statement does not specify the size of the deployment, but it was estimated at about 3,000 by two US officials who were not authorised to discuss the matter publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity.
