Milan, 1 Mar. (LaPresse) – A senior White House official quoted by the Axios newspaper claims that what happened yesterday in the Oval Office, namely the verbal clash between Donald Trump and JD Vance on one side and Volodymyr Zelensky on the other, was not a premeditated ambush. ‘Our plan was to sign the minerals agreement and enter into this economic partnership and move towards peace,’ the official told Axios. Several US allies quickly rallied around Zelensky after the confrontation and US Congressional Democrats denounced Trump's attitude towards the president of a country at war by likening him to that of a bully, but Trump aides quoted by Axios put the blame on Zelensky: ‘He could have simply acknowledged the vice president's (Vance ed.) remarks and moved on, but he failed to do so,’ the White House official said.
