Turin, 4 March (LaPresse) – The Arab League has said that the Egyptian plan for the reconstruction of Gaza is ‘fully supported’ by the Arab states. This was reported by Al Jazeera. The organisation's secretary-general, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, said the Cairo summit had two objectives before meeting. ‘The first was to reiterate the collective Arab position, rejecting the proposed relocation of Palestinians to Gaza under any pretext or name,’ he said. ‘The other objective was to provide clear, practical and realistic alternatives to the proposed evacuation of the Palestinians,’ he added. The secretary also said that the plan on the table, developed by Egypt in cooperation with Palestine, became an Arab plan after being approved by the summit. ‘It is fully supported by all Arab states,’ Ahmed Aboul Gheit concluded.
