Vatican City (Vatican), March 13 (LaPresse) – "We don’t want more bloodshed. We ask for unity and reconciliation. After 14 years of war, we don’t need another conflict." This is what Archbishop Jean Abdo Arbach said to Aid to the Church in Need (ACS). The Archbishop condemned the attacks that have been attributed to militants from the HTS group, currently in power in Syria, who reacted after an ambush on government security forces. "I ask for justice because killing women and children is not good for Syria," the prelate added. Monsignor Arbach described the difficult situation Syria is facing after the fall of Assad’s regime: "People have no work, there is a lack of food and medicine. Many wonder when it will end, they see no future and want to leave." According to the bishop, it has become normal to see people wandering the streets of Homs talking to themselves in an atmosphere of loneliness, fear, and sadness. The Archbishop also calls for the lifting of international economic sanctions, which continue to have a deep impact on the population.
