Rome, 20 Mar. (LaPresse) – In a long post on X, the mayor of Istanbul, Ekrem Imamoglu, currently in jail on charges of corruption and allegedly aiding and abetting terrorist organisations, called on the ‘tens of thousands of honourable and ethical prosecutors and judges of the Turkish Supreme Judiciary who serve with love for their nation’ to ‘act and not remain silent’ in the face of ‘this handful of your colleagues who are tarnishing our judiciary, humiliating us on the world stage and destroying our reputation’. ‘I have confidence in the Turkish Supreme Judiciary. Silence is not an option, nor should it be,' the mayor of Istanbul said again.
