Rome, 21 Mar. (LaPresse) – According to new data collected by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), at least 8,938 people died along migratory routes worldwide in 2024, making it the deadliest year on record. The 2024 toll – according to a press release – confirms a five-year trend of increasing deaths each year and last year's toll exceeds the previous record of 2023, when 8,747 migrant deaths were recorded.
