Ankara, March 21 (LaPresse) – "Turkey will not surrender to street terrorism," said Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, commenting on the ongoing protests against the arrest of Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu. "We are witnessing an attempt to stir up our streets under the pretext of a corruption operation in Istanbul," he added. "We will not tolerate a handful of incompetent people trying to disturb the peace of our nation, provoke our people, terrorize and disturb Turkey just to protect their own fortunes, interests, rents, and looting plans." This was reported by Trt Haber. "The CHP (Imamoglu's party, ed.) must distance itself not only from the thieves who have taken over the municipalities but also from terrorist organizations," he continued. "No one can get anywhere in this country by attacking our police, threatening our judges and prosecutors, pressuring the courts, defying democracy and national will, and resorting to illegal, illegitimate, immoral, and undemocratic means."
