London, March 21 (LaPresse) – The British counter-terrorism police are leading the investigation into the cause of the fire at an electrical substation that led to the closure of London's Heathrow Airport. This was reported by the BBC. The Metropolitan Police stated that there are currently "no indications" that the fire was caused by a criminal act. "Given the location of the substation and the impact this incident has had on critical national infrastructure, the Counter Terrorism Command of the Metropolitan Police is now leading the investigation. This is due to the specialized resources and capabilities within that command which can help move the investigation forward quickly, to minimize disruption and identify the cause," they explained further. Investigators continue to believe that the fire was not caused by a deliberate act, but the investigation is still in its early stages. Scotland Yard – according to the Guardian – has stated that the involvement of counter-terrorism investigators is "a routine operation and a precaution."
