Paris (France), 27 Mar. (LaPresse) – ‘There was absolute clarity that Russia is trying to delay peace, is playing for time, and we have to be absolutely clear about that.’ British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said this at the Paris summit on Ukraine, according to the Guardian. The British leader also said that there was ‘absolute clarity that now is not the time to lift sanctions’. ‘On the contrary, what we discussed was how we can increase sanctions to support the US initiative, to bring Russia to the table through further pressure from this group of countries’, he said. He says the meeting also further discussed his ‘military and operational’ plans to support any ceasefire and peace in Ukraine, ‘whether on land, in the air or at sea’. The leaders agreed that more support was needed for Ukraine ‘to ensure that Ukraine is in the strongest possible position, both now and in further negotiations’. ‘What emerged strongly from the meeting was that many countries have stood by, as they have done for over three years, with Ukraine at this crucial moment for as long as necessary,’ he said.
