Rome, April 1 (LaPresse) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is backtracking on his decision to appoint retired Vice Admiral Eli Sharvit as the next head of the Shin Bet. A decision that comes only 24 hours after the official announcement. Netanyahu – explains the Times of Israel – met with Sharvit last night to inform him that he will not be the next head of the Shin Bet. ‘The prime minister thanked Vice Admiral Sharvit for his willingness to serve but informed him that after further consideration, he intends to interview other candidates,’ Netanyahu's office said in a statement.
