Milan, 5 Apr (LaPresse/AP) – Thousands of people took to the streets across the United States to protest against US President Donald Trump and Elon Musk, against the administration's actions on downsizing, the economy and human rights. The more than 1,200 demonstrations across the country were organised under the slogan ‘Hands off’ by more than 150 groups, including civil rights organisations, trade unions, supporters of the LGBTQ+ community, veterans and election activists. Demonstrations were held on the National Mall in Washington D.C. and other locations in the 50 states. In Massachusetts, for example, thousands gathered in Boston Common park with signs reading ‘Hands off our democracy’, ‘Hands off our social security’ and 2Diversity, equity and inclusion make America strong. Hands off!’ In Ohio, hundreds of people also demonstrated in the rain in front of the Capitol in Columbus. Hundreds also took to the streets in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, a few miles from Trump's golf course in Jupiter.
