Frankfurt (Germany), April 7 (LaPresse) – "The calculations made by U.S. President Donald Trump to impose additional tariffs, from my point of view, are absurd. Even the basis of the calculation is absurd." This was stated by German Minister of Economics, Robert Habeck, upon his arrival at the Foreign Trade Council in Luxembourg. "The assumption that a trade surplus or deficit is inherently a problem is a mistaken estimate because, in the end, globalization benefits all economies, and in particular, the U.S. economy has huge GDP growth figures, better than many European countries," explained Habeck. "So, if we, the rest of the world, sell cheaper goods to the U.S. economy, it is beneficial to the U.S. economy. Therefore, even the basis of the calculation, both economically and philosophically, is nonsense," added the German minister.
