Brussels, 26 April (LaPresse) – EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Rome at the Ukrainian embassy. This is according to EU sources. Following the meeting, von der Leyen posted on X accompanied by images of her embracing Zelensky. ‘Dear Volodymyr Zelensky, Europe will always stand by Ukraine in its quest for peace. You can count on our support at the negotiating table to achieve a just and lasting peace,’ the post reads. She then referred to Ukraine's path towards future EU membership: ‘Today, we also discussed the steps Ukraine is taking to earn its place in our family of nations,’ von der Leyen wrote.
