Turin, 28 April (LaPresse) – The Russian Foreign Ministry has reported a telephone conversation that took place between Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio regarding the Ukraine negotiations. This was reported by Interfax. According to reports, the parties stressed the importance of consolidating the prerequisites for the start of negotiations with the aim of agreeing on a path to peace in Ukraine. ‘A productive exchange of views continued on key aspects of the Russian-American political dialogue, which has intensified significantly recently. The main focus was on the issue of the Ukrainian crisis,’ the statement reported. The Russian Foreign Ministry noted that, following the conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff on 25 April, Lavrov and Rubio ‘emphasised the importance of consolidating the emerging preconditions for the start of negotiations, in order to agree on a reliable path to long-term sustainable peace’.
