Berlin, May 5 (LaPresse) – Boris Pistorius will retain his position as Minister of Defense in the new German government. This was announced by the executive committee of the SPD. The Social Democratic leadership also stated that former Bundestag President Bärbel Bas will become Minister of Labor in the future black-red coalition government. Today, the SPD will present its team of ministers for the coalition executive with the CDU-CSU.

The SPD had already announced that party leader Lars Klingbeil will assume the role of Vice Chancellor and Minister of Finance. The list of Social Democratic ministers also includes Stefanie Hubig as Minister of Justice, Verna Hubertz as Minister of Construction, Carsten Schneider as Minister of the Environment, and Reem Alabali-Radovan as Minister of Development.

Additionally, Elisabeth Kaiser will serve as Minister of State and Federal Commissioner for Migration, Refugees, and Integration, and Natalie Pawlik as Minister of State and Federal Government Commissioner for Eastern Germany. Party co-leader Saskia Esken was not considered for a ministerial position. According to reports, she is unlikely to remain at the head of the party.
