Deir al-Balah (Gaza), May 7 (LaPresse/AP) – Israeli airstrikes across Gaza have killed at least 59 people, including women and children, hospital officials reported, as Israel prepares to intensify its campaign against Hamas. Among the attacks was one on Tuesday night targeting a school sheltering hundreds of displaced Palestinians, killing 27 people, including nine women and three children, according to Al-Aqsa Hospital officials. This is the fifth time the school in central Gaza has been hit since the war began. Another early morning strike on a different school-turned-shelter in Gaza City killed 16 people, according to Al-Ahli Hospital officials, while strikes in other areas killed at least 16 more. The Israeli military did not immediately comment on the attacks. Israel blames Hamas for the civilian casualties, as it operates from civilian infrastructure, including schools.
