Berlin (Germany), May 7th (LaPresse) – The new German government announced on Wednesday that it will begin increasing border controls to curb immigration. The new German Minister of the Interior, Alexander Dobrindt, stated that more police forces will be deployed at the country's borders to reduce the number of "illegal migrants." He said that Germany will not fully close its borders, but some asylum seekers may be turned away at the border — something the previous government had refused to do. The new Chancellor, Friedrich Merz, had promised to tighten the country's immigration policy during his election campaign.
