Rome, 9 May (LaPresse) – Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni had a telephone conversation with the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Friedrich Merz. According to a statement from Palazzo Chigi, the conversation was an opportunity for the Prime Minister to renew her best wishes to the Chancellor and ‘allow for an exchange on key international and European issues, starting with the revival of European competitiveness – particularly in the automotive sector – and the management of migration.’ The two leaders also emphasised ‘the excellent state of bilateral relations, as evidenced by bilateral trade figures, and confirmed their willingness to continue to nurture the strategic partnership between Germany and Italy, including through the implementation of the Joint Action Plan signed in Berlin in 2023’.
