Islamabad (Pakistan), 11 May (LaPresse/AP) – The ceasefire to end the conflict between India and Pakistan was shaken by overnight fighting on the border in the disputed region of Kashmir. Both sides of the Line of Control, which divides the territory, reported heavy gunfire between Indian and Pakistani troops. The fighting subsided on Sunday morning. The two countries agreed to a truce on Saturday after talks to defuse the most serious military clash in decades, following a massacre of tourists by gunfire that India blames on Pakistan, which denies the accusation. As part of the ceasefire, the two nuclear-armed countries agreed to immediately halt all military action on land, in the air and at sea. A few hours later, however, they accused each other of repeatedly violating the agreement. The two top military officers from India and Pakistan are expected to hold talks again on Monday.
