Milan, May 18 (LaPresse) – German Chancellor Friedrich Merz told reporters that he plans to speak once again, together with the leaders of the United Kingdom, France, and Poland, with U.S. President Donald Trump before the scheduled phone call between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, set for tomorrow. “We have agreed to speak once more with the four heads of state and government, and with the American president, in preparation for this conversation,” said Merz from Rome, where he attended the inaugural mass of Pope Leo XIV’s pontificate. “We can only hope that there will now be further progress,” Merz added, as reported by the German newspaper Handelsblatt.
