Frankfurt (Germany), May 20 (LaPresse) – "We must send a clear signal to President Putin: we will do everything we can to help achieve a negotiated solution, but now we expect concrete steps from him." This was stated by German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul during the EU Foreign Affairs and Defense Council. "We have repeatedly emphasized that now we expect only one thing from Russia: an unconditional and immediate ceasefire. We welcome the fact that Ukraine remains willing to do so. We note with disappointment that Russia has yet to take this decisive step, and we must respond," Wadephul added. "We also believe our American allies will not accept this situation. And in this forum, I will also advocate that there is no restriction on considering further sanctions. We know that today we will adopt a seventeenth sanctions package. This includes the 200 ships of the shadow fleet," the German minister concluded.
