Rome, May 21 (LaPresse) – Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani has just spoken with the Italian deputy consul involved in the shooting incident in Jenin. The diplomat was unharmed and has returned to the consulate. Tajani instructed that immediate explanations be demanded and a formal protest be lodged with the Israeli government: "Threats against diplomats are unacceptable," said Tajani, according to sources from the Foreign Ministry. "I just spoke with Alessandro Tutino, Italy’s deputy consul in Jerusalem, who is safe and was among the diplomats reportedly attacked by gunfire near the Jenin refugee camp," Tajani later posted on X. "We call on the Israeli government to immediately clarify the incident. Threats against diplomats are unacceptable," he reiterated.
