Frankfurt (Germany), 22 May (LaPresse) – “At the moment, we have no indication that the United States will withdraw its troops from Europe”. This was stated by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz at a press conference with Lithuanian Prime Minister Gitanas Nauseda in Vilnius. ‘We continue to work closely with the Americans at both the political and military levels, including on the stationing of American troops in Europe. Therefore, we assume that the situation will not change. On the contrary, we will jointly formulate our future goals at the NATO summit in The Hague. These goals also include intensifying our joint efforts within NATO territory so that we can defend ourselves together with the United States,’ Merz added, emphasising that ’we are preparing for the NATO summit in The Hague. And this preparatory work is underway with all Alliance partners, including the United States.’
