Washington (USA), 22 May (LaPresse) – The Trump administration has blocked Harvard University from enrolling international students, targeting a crucial source of funding for the country's oldest and richest college. This was reported by the New York Times. This is a significant escalation in the standoff between the White House and the university, which has so far refused to comply with the administration's demands regarding the management of its academic curriculum, admission policies and faculty hiring practices. The administration notified Harvard of its decision after a back-and-forth in recent days over the legality of a request for documents as part of an investigation by the Department of Homeland Security. ‘I am writing to inform you that, effective immediately, the certification of Harvard University's Student and Exchange Visitor Programme is revoked,’ reads a letter sent to the university by Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem. A copy of the letter was obtained by the New York Times.
