Washington (USA), 24 May (LaPresse) – The White House has placed more than 100 National Security Council (NSC) officials on forced leave as part of a restructuring initiated by interim National Security Advisor and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. This was reported by CNN sources. An email from NSC Chief of Staff Brian McCormack was sent at around 4.20 p.m. on Friday (local time), informing the dismissed officials that they had 30 minutes to clear their desks, according to an administration official who spoke to CNN. The subject line of the email read: ‘Your return to your home agency,’ indicating that most of those affected had been assigned to the NSC from other departments and agencies. On Thursday, Rubio had called a meeting with senior officials, which had raised speculation that a reshuffle was imminent, a CNN source explained. And on Friday at 3:45 p.m., shortly before the email was sent, senior executives were summoned to a meeting with the Secretary of State.
