Washington, June 5 (LaPresse) – President Donald Trump signed a proclamation tonight to ban travel from several countries, citing security risks. This was reported to CNN by two informed sources. The ban will completely block entry for citizens of 12 countries: Afghanistan, Myanmar (also known as Burma), Chad, the Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen. People from seven countries will be subject to partial restrictions: Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan, and Venezuela. Exceptions are planned for lawful permanent residents, holders of existing visas, certain visa categories, and individuals whose entry is deemed to be in the national interest of the United States. According to a White House official, the president made the final decision after the antisemitic attack in Boulder, Colorado. Trump was already considering the measure, but Sunday’s assault accelerated the process. The US entry ban will take effect Monday at 12:01 a.m.
