Washington (USA), June 12 (LaPresse) – U.S. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. appointed eight new advisers on vaccine policy Wednesday, replacing the task force he abruptly dismissed earlier this week. Among them is a scientist who has studied mRNA vaccine technology and become a conservative favorite for his criticism of COVID-19 vaccines, as well as a prominent critic of pandemic-era lockdowns.
Kennedy’s decision to “retire” the previous 17-member Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices has been widely criticized by medical groups and public health organizations, who feared the advisers would be replaced by a group aligned with Kennedy’s desire to reassess—and possibly end—long-standing vaccine recommendations.
Among the new appointees is Vicky Pebsworth, regional director of the National Association of Catholic Nurses, who was named as a board member and volunteer director of the National Vaccine Information Center, a group widely regarded as a major source of vaccine misinformation.
