Turin, June 12 (LaPresse) – Texas Governor Greg Abbott has announced the deployment of over 2,000 Department of Public Safety officers and more than 5,000 National Guard soldiers across the state "to assist local law enforcement" in responding to protests against ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) and "to maintain public order." This was communicated by the governor's office, as reported by CNN. "Peaceful protests are part of the fabric of our nation, but Texas will not tolerate the lawlessness we saw in Los Angeles in response to President Donald Trump's immigration enforcement," Abbott said. "Anyone who engages in acts of violence or damages property will be arrested and prosecuted to the full extent of the law," he added.
