Minneapolis (Minnesota, USA), June 16 (LaPresse) – The United States Department of Justice has formally charged Vance Boelter with federal murder and stalking. Boelter is suspected of shooting two Minnesota lawmakers, killing one. He is accused of killing Democratic Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband, and injuring Democratic Senator John Hoffman and his wife. According to federal prosecutor Joseph Thompson, on the night Boelter fired shots, he also went to the homes of two other lawmakers intending to commit further violence, but one was not at home and in the other case Boelter left after police arrived. Vance Boelter surrendered to police on Sunday after being found in the woods near his home following a large manhunt that began Saturday morning near Minneapolis. "Boelter carefully planned his attack," conducting research on his victims and their families, surveilling their homes, and taking notes, Thompson said. Alvin Winston, special agent in charge of the FBI office in Minneapolis, said it was the largest manhunt in the state’s history.
