Rome, 18 June (LaPresse/AP) – Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for tensions in the Middle East to be eased ‘as soon as possible’ and said that China is ‘deeply concerned about the sudden escalation of tensions caused by Israel's military operation against Iran’. Xi, visiting the Kazakh capital Astana, added that China ‘opposes any action that violates the sovereignty, security and territorial integrity of other countries.’ Xi added that China ‘is ready to work with all parties to play a constructive role in restoring peace and stability in the Middle East.’
