Milan, June 20 (LaPresse) – "A diplomatic solution is within reach if there is the necessary political will. The elements for an agreement have been discussed. The IAEA can guarantee, through an impeccable inspection system, that no nuclear weapons will be developed in Iran," said Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), during a United Nations Security Council meeting.
"These elements can form the basis of a lasting agreement that brings peace and prevents a nuclear crisis in the Middle East. This opportunity must not be missed," Grossi added. "The alternative would be a prolonged conflict and the looming threat of nuclear proliferation which, although originating in the Middle East, would effectively erode the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and the non-proliferation regime as a whole."
