Milan, June 20 (LaPresse) – The Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, has stated that Israelis must prepare for a “prolonged campaign” against Iran in order to “eliminate a threat of this magnitude.”
In a video statement, Zamir said that Iran has been “building a clear plan for years to destroy the State of Israel,” and in recent months “the plan has reached the point of no return, with capabilities now reaching operational readiness.”
“We launched the campaign when Iran had about 2,500 surface-to-surface missiles and a high production rate, such that within approximately two years, it was expected to possess around 8,000 missiles,” he added.
“The IDF will not stand idly by as threats develop. As part of an emerging doctrine, we will act proactively and preemptively to prevent an existential threat and face any challenge,” he said. The statement was reported by The Times of Israel.
