Rome, 20 June (LaPresse) – The Iran-Israel conflict poses a potential danger to Russia due to the proximity of the Middle East region to the country's borders. This was stated by Russian President Dmitry Peskov's spokesman. "The war we are witnessing is burdened by geographical expansion, the involvement of new actors and unpredictable consequences. We are extremely concerned about this because we are not on the other side of the ocean; this region is right on our borders,‘ he said, as reported by Interfax. ’In addition to the fact that this situation inevitably has an impact on the global economy, energy markets and so on, it is obviously potentially dangerous for us. Therefore, we are concerned," he added. Peskov was also asked whether Russia has a “red line” regarding the situation in the Middle East. “Red lines” should be, first and foremost, between the countries in the region, because it is this region that is sinking into the abyss of instability and war," he concluded.
