Rome, June 21 (LaPresse) – The government of Pakistan has proposed awarding U.S. President Donald Trump the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of his “decisive diplomatic intervention” and leadership during the recent crisis between India and Pakistan.
The announcement was made by the Pakistani government on X.
“In a time of major regional turbulence, President Trump demonstrated remarkable strategic foresight and exceptional political skill through strong diplomatic engagement with both Islamabad and New Delhi. His efforts helped de-escalate a rapidly deteriorating situation, ultimately securing a ceasefire and preventing a wider conflict between two nuclear powers—a conflict that could have had catastrophic consequences for millions of people in the region and beyond,” the statement read.
Islamabad emphasized that Trump’s intervention “reflects his role as a true peacemaker and his commitment to conflict resolution through dialogue.”
