Dubai (United Arab Emirates), June 23 (LaPresse) – Qatar has announced the closure of its airspace in the context of Iran’s threats of retaliation against the United States. The announcement was made by the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which described the decision as temporary. Qatar hosts the Al Udeid air base, one of the main bases of the U.S. armed forces.
The decision will have consequences for a major airline: Qatar is home to Qatar Airways, one of the leading regional carriers, crucial for travel between East and West.
According to the specialized site FlightRadar, the airspace of the United Arab Emirates is also currently closed, based on flight routes and air traffic control audio data. Many planes are being forced to turn back due to the closure of UAE airspace, FlightRadar reported on X.
