Milan, June 29 (LaPresse) – The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) reported that they killed Hakem al-Issa, one of the founders of Hamas who is said to have helped plan the October 7, 2023 attack in southern Israel, during an airstrike last night in Gaza City. The news was reported by the Times of Israel.
Hakem al-Issa served as chief of staff of the "Administrative and Combat Support Division" of the group’s military wing and was killed in an airstrike in the Sabra neighborhood of Gaza City, according to the IDF.
The army described Issa as "a central source of intelligence and one of the last prominent Hamas members to hold a senior position before October 7 and remain in the Gaza Strip."
"In the past, Issa led Hamas’s force buildup efforts in the Gaza Strip, was one of the founders of the operational division of its military wing, served as head of the training division, and was a member of Hamas's general military council," the IDF said, adding that "Issa played a significant role in the planning and execution of the murderous October 7 massacre."
