Washington (USA), 30 June (LaPresse/AP) – The Trump administration believes that Harvard University has failed to protect Jewish students from “anti-Semitic harassment” and has threatened to cut all federal funding to the Ivy League university if it does not take action. A federal task force sent a letter to Harvard on Monday stating that the university violated civil rights laws that require universities to protect students from discrimination based on race or national origin. The letter said investigators found that Harvard had at times been ‘willingly complicit in anti-Semitic harassment of Jewish students, faculty and staff’ and that administrators had allowed anti-Semitism to spread on the Cambridge, Massachusetts, campus. ‘Failure to immediately implement appropriate changes will result in the loss of all federal financial resources and will continue to impact Harvard's relationship with the federal government,’ officials said in the letter, obtained by the Associated Press and first reported by the Wall Street Journal. This is the latest escalation in the White House's battle with Harvard, which has lost more than $2.6 billion in federal funding after rejecting a list of federal demands calling for sweeping changes in governance, hiring and admissions on campus.
