Ankara, June 30 (LaPresse) – Turkey is in the grip of wildfires. In particular, flames have broken out in İzmir Province, fueled by strong winds. CNN Türk reports that in the Seferihisar district, the fire reached several homes, which were damaged. According to the broadcaster, the fire started in a wooded area between Kuyucak, in the Menderes district of İzmir Province, and the Orhanlı area in Seferihisar. Overnight, the blaze spread to the nearby summer residential area of Doğankent Sitesi, which was evacuated as a precaution. The power grid was shut down and many houses were rendered uninhabitable. According to Hurriyet, Turkey has been battling 569 wildfires since June 1.
