Cairo (Egypt), 1 July. (LaPresse/AP) – Over 165 international humanitarian and non-governmental organisations, including Oxfam, Save the Children and Amnesty, have called for the dissolution of the Gaza Humanitarian Fund, supported by Israel and the United States, due to repeated incidents of chaos and deadly violence against Palestinians heading to its sites. ‘Palestinians in Gaza are faced with an impossible choice: starve or risk being killed while desperately trying to obtain food to feed their families,’ the group said in a joint press release. According to the Gaza Health Ministry, more than 500 Palestinians have been killed over the past month in the chaos and controversy surrounding the aid distribution programme.
