Milan, July 1 (LaPresse) – Russian President Vladimir Putin had a phone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron. This was announced by the Kremlin, according to the Tass agency. "In a conversation with his French counterpart, the Russian leader noted that the Ukrainian conflict is a direct consequence of the policies of Western states," the Kremlin reported. "Putin pointed out to Macron that the West has for many years created an anti-Russian stronghold in Ukraine and is now prolonging military actions." The Moscow leader emphasized that the solution in Ukraine should be comprehensive, addressing the root causes and based on the reality on the ground. "Putin recalled that the Ukrainian conflict is a direct consequence of the policies of Western states, which for many years ignored Russia’s security interests, created an anti-Russian stronghold in Ukraine, and tolerated violations of the rights of Russian-speaking residents," the Kremlin said.
