Jakarta (Indonesia), 7 July (LaPresse/AP) – The Lewotobi Laki Laki volcano in Indonesia erupted today, sending a column of volcanic material 18 kilometres into the sky and depositing ash on villages. The Indonesian Geological Agency said in a statement that it had recorded an avalanche of incandescent gas clouds descending the slopes of the volcano during the eruption. No casualties have been reported. The 1,584-metre-high mountain is a twin volcano of Mount Lewotobi Perempuan in the Flores Timur district.
