Brussels, 7 July (LaPresse) – ‘President Ursula von der Leyen had a telephone conversation yesterday with US President Donald Trump’ on the issue of tariffs. ‘There was a fruitful exchange of views and the president remains in contact with EU leaders.’ This was reported by European Commission spokesperson Stefan De Keersmaecker in his daily press briefing. "We will not comment on letters we have not received, nor on statements made by the US administration. We are continuing to work towards the 9 July deadline and, in this regard, political and technical contacts between the EU and the US are continuing," commented another European Commission spokesperson, Olof Gill, when asked about the letters Trump announced he would send and a possible extension of the tariff suspension deadline.
