Brussels, 8 July (LaPresse) – The Government of National Stability, which controls eastern Libya, has rejected the mission of Team Europe, consisting of Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi, Italy, Greece and Malta, and European Commissioner for Migration Magnus Brunnes. This was reported in a statement signed by the Prime Minister of the Government of National Stability, Osama Saad Hammad. 'The planned visit of the interior ministers of the Republics of Italy, Greece and Malta, and the European Commissioner for Migration, together with their accompanying delegation, has been cancelled upon their arrival at Benina International Airport in the city of Benghazi. They have been duly informed of their obligation to leave Libyan territory immediately and have been declared “personae non gratae”," the statement reads. The Benghazi government accuses the participants of violating "established diplomatic norms and international conventions, and through actions that demonstrate disregard for Libyan national sovereignty, as well as in violation of Libyan internal laws and failure to comply with established procedures governing the entry, movement and residence of foreign diplomatic personnel, as outlined in the circular issued by the Libyan government. "The Libyan government reiterates its urgent appeal to all diplomatic agents, members of international missions and governmental and non-governmental organisations to uphold and respect Libyan sovereignty, strictly adhering to Libyan legislation and international conventions and norms governing diplomatic visits. Furthermore, they are urged to interact with the Libyan government in accordance with the principle of reciprocity, as enshrined in international agreements, treaties and diplomatic customs," the Libyans write.
