Camarillo (California, USA), 11 July (LaPresse/AP) – Federal immigration authorities said they arrested about 200 immigrants suspected of being in the country illegally during raids the day before at two California farms that grow cannabis. During the operation, protesters clashed with law enforcement officers at one of the farms. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said criminal search warrants were executed in Carpinteria and Camarillo, California. Immigrants suspected of being in the country illegally were arrested, it said, and at least 10 immigrant children were also present at the scene. Four US citizens were arrested for “assaulting or resisting agents”, the department said. Authorities are offering a reward of £40,000 for information leading to the arrest of a person suspected of shooting at federal agents. At least one worker was hospitalised with serious injuries.
