Frankfurt (Germany), 14 July (LaPresse) – ‘The priority objective is to reach a solution with the United States as quickly as possible.’ This was stated by German government spokesman Stefan Kornelius at a press conference in response to a question on the timing of possible EU countermeasures to the tariffs announced by the United States. ‘The current negotiations are aimed at achieving this goal. The Chancellor and the German government support the EU Commission in its negotiating strategy,’ the spokesman explained, emphasising that there is close contact with other European partners on the issue. ‘Any escalation must be avoided until 1 August,’ the spokesman stressed.
