Turin, 16 July (LaPresse) – US President Donald Trump has threatened to impose tariffs on pharmaceutical products and semiconductors starting on 1 August, the latest deadline set for the introduction of his “reciprocal” tariffs against individual countries. This was reported by The Guardian. The US leader told reporters that tariffs on drug imports could be announced ‘probably by the end of the month, and we will start with low tariffs, giving pharmaceutical companies about a year to adjust, after which we will raise them to a very high level.’ Trump added that he expects a similar timeline for tariffs on semiconductors, believing that it is “less complicated” to apply tariffs on chips required by all electronic devices, but did not provide further details.
