Manado (Indonesia), July 21 (LaPresse) – Three people died and over 560 were rescued after a fire broke out on a ferry in Indonesia. The vessel KM Barcelona 5 caught fire around noon while heading to Manado, the capital of North Sulawesi province, from the port of Melonguane in the Talaud Islands district.
A coast guard ship, six rescue boats, and several inflatable boats were used in the rescue operation. Some local fishermen also intervened to save the passengers. The fire, which started at the stern of the ferry, was extinguished within an hour.
