Peshawar (Pakistan), 22 July (LaPresse/AP) – Three local tourists are dead and 15 are missing in Pakistan following floods caused by heavy monsoon rains that hit the north of the country. A storm on Monday caused flooding and landslides, blocking a major highway near the northern district of Chilas and trapping more than 200 local tourists, said Faizullah Faraq, a government spokesman in the Gilgit-Baltistan region. Army helicopters were used to evacuate women and children. Several vehicles were buried under the rubble of the landslides and rescuers are using heavy machinery to find missing tourists and residents, Faraq added.
