Washington (USA), 24 July (LaPresse/AP) – Columbia University has announced that it has reached an agreement with the Trump administration to pay over $220 million to the federal government in order to restore research funding that had been cancelled on the grounds of combating anti-Semitism on campus. According to the university, the Ivy League institution will pay $200 million to the federal government over three years as part of the agreement. In addition, it will pay $21 million to settle investigations launched by the Federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. ‘This agreement represents an important step forward after a period of intense scrutiny by federal authorities and institutional uncertainty,’ said Claire Shipman, interim president of the university.
