Moscow, Aug 4 (LaPresse) – Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky after preparatory expert-level work has been carried out. This was stated by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov. "All the preparatory work for the meeting has not yet been completed. And I would like to remind you that President Putin himself does not rule out holding such a meeting after the necessary work at the expert level has been done and the necessary gap has been bridged," Peskov said in response to journalists' questions. Peskov added that he does not exclude the possibility that this week a meeting could take place between Putin and U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff. When asked to comment on Donald Trump’s statement that Moscow had requested a meeting between Putin and Witkoff, Peskov did not specify who initiated it. "We are always happy to see Mr. Witkoff in Moscow and we are always pleased to have contact with Mr. Witkoff. We consider them important, significant, and very useful. The dialogue continues, and the United States continues its mediation efforts in seeking a solution to the Ukrainian crisis. These efforts are very important, also in the context of the current direct negotiation process between Russia and Ukraine," Peskov emphasized.
